History


The Greene County Auditor’s Geographic Information System (GIS) Office was established in 1991 to develop a comprehensive GIS to support the needs of government agencies and the residents of Greene County. Since that time, Greene County GIS has won numerous awards for its innovative use of GIS technology.

GIS staff members maintain a vast GIS data-set used to support a wide range of functions. These include:
  • 9-1-1 services
  • Code compliance
  • Economic development
  • Emergency management
  • Engineering
  • Natural resource management
  • Planning
  • Public health
  • Real estate appraisal
  • Voting
  • Water / wastewater utilities

GIS staff supports many of these departments with their GIS needs and have developed a number of applications to make GIS information readily available to the public.
