The Honorable Steven L. Hurley began serving his first term as the Greene County Domestic Relations Court Judge on January 1, 2003.  He was appointed as a Domestic Relations Court Magistrate in 1987, then served as the court’s Chief Magistrate from the year 2000 until taking the Bench in 2003. The Judge earned his law degree from the University of Dayton Law School on May 8, 1977. 

Judge Hurley and his wife Karen have been married since September of 1977. They have three children and three grandchildren.


The Judge has served as president of the Greene County Bar Association and completed two terms as president of the Ohio Magistrates Association. Judge Hurley is currently serving as a member of the Ohio Supreme Court Committee on Family Law and Procedure.

Community Activities

Judge Hurley continues to be an active supporter of Greene County youth activities and athletics.  He has served for 35 years as a registered track and field official, a soccer coach and referee, and as a little league baseball coach. The Judge was instrumental in the creation of the youth soccer fields outside Xenia at the site of the old Xenia drive-in theater and the development of Xenia’s select soccer program, Club X. 

This commitment to Greene County’s children has carried over in his work as the Domestic Relations Court Judge, where he strives to protect children’s rights and their best interests.
