The public generally identifies
the county prosecutor as primarily responsible for prosecuting
serious crimes within the county. In addition, the prosecutor
is the legal advisor to all county elected officials, the board
of county commissioners, the board of elections, townships and
public libraries.
The Civil Division of the Greene
County Prosecutor's Office defends and prosecutes lawsuits and
actions to which these clients may be a party. It is the
prosecutor's duty to advise these public clients as to their
legal rights and responsibilities.
The Civil Division is also legal counsel for the Greene
County Children Services Board and represents the CSB in cases involving
abused, neglected or dependent children.
This division
also collects delinquent real estate taxes on behalf of the county’s
political subdivisions.
