Advisory board will be conduit to
state auditor

Taken from Xenia Daily Gazette

Auditor of State Betty Montgomery has named two local residents to serve on a Regional Advisory Board. The board is one of seven that has been created throughout the state.

County Auditor, and Dr. John Talbott, who is dean of the Accountancy Program at Wright State University, will be two of the 18 people on the Advisory Board.

"Our first duty is to stay in touch with the people we serve," Montgomery said. "These board will allow regular face-to-face contact with individual who can tell us how well we are serving, how we can improve and how we can assist them."

The seven state boards will provide local officials a forum to discuss major issues facing their communities that involve interaction with the Auditor of State's Office.

The boards are part of Montgomery's continued commitment to working with local government.

She said that she will be conducting regularly scheduled invitation roundtables to discuss audit issues as she visits regions throughout the state.

Each board will meet several times a year wand will include officials from county, city, township, as well as, school treasurers.

"The board will also provide the Auditor's Office a venue through which it can work with local government entities to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest government accounting regulations," Montgomery said.
