    All current GCP&T volunteer naturalists are encouraged to participate in the park agency's educational series. Interested in becoming at GCP&T volunteer naturalist? Come attend a session as a guest. Each program has an outdoor portion to dress for the weather. (Jan. 11- Astronomy; Feb. 8- Maple Sugaring; March 14- Bees; April 11- Waterfowl and Raptors)

    Learn everything about raising your own bees---setting up the hives, equipment, products of the hive an much more. Featuring hands-on experience with the on-site apiary. Instructed by Bill Starrett, one of 18 Ohio State Beekeeper Association's Certified Master Instructors.

    Join the Citizen Science program--part of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology winter bird survey to learn more about winter birds at the feeders. Be part of a nationwide science project-- sit back in a warm room and watch the birds that feed at the Narrows Nature Center bird feeders. This family-friendly science project can illustrate changes in our climate and habitat. Help the naturalist track the number of birds and species that come to the feeders. No need to be an expert-- just point out what you see.

  4. Bird Feeding for Dummies

    February 13, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Narrows Reserve Nature Center

    Turn yourself into a bird-feeding mannequin complete with an oversized coat, wide brim hat --- and bird seed --- to have the birds feeding right out of your hand. Be prepared to feel the twitch of their toes and hear the beat of their wings.

  5. Valentines Candlelight Stroll

    February 13, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Crooked Creek Nature Preserve

    Enjoy a romantic evening in the park. Trails will be lit with candles and white holiday lights. Hot chocolate warming by the fireplace, decadent cupcakes and chocolates are waiting for you in the log cabin. Share this romantic night with our someone special. Reservations required by February 5. $50 per couple.

    Night shift- many of our local wildlife are nocturnal and the only way to see or hear them is to be in their environment at night. Night hikes are held unless we have thunder and lightning. Come dressed for the weather. Free; donations accepted.
