Marilyn Reid
brings with her quite a distinguished background of educated
service. Ms. Reid was State Representative for District 76, serving
three terms and introducing legislation to create the Juvenile Court
Judgeship and the termination of E check. She was successful in
amending legislation which changed the Ohio license plate to read
BIRTHPLACE OF AVIATION, bringing the acknowledgment of Aviation back
to Greene County where it originated. Ms. Reid developed a keen
knowledge of the state budget and the capital bill and plans to use
this experience on the local level. She was known for fiscal
conservative values and was awarded the Watchdog of the Treasury
Award.
Ms. Reid attended
Miami University and graduated from the University of Illinois. She
received a Juris Doctor Degree from Ohio Northern University School
of Law and has been a practicing attorney for over 37 years.
Ms. Reid is the
Past President of the Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce, Lioness,
Altrusa, Jayceettes, and the Dayton Panhellenic Board of Trustees.
She was a member of the Lions and is currently a member of Rotary.
She has served on the Channel 14/16 Auction Board and was a member
of the Board of Trustees of the Beavercreek Friends of the Library.
Ms. Reid served on the Ohio Advisory Committee to the United States
Commission on Civil Rights and served as Executive
Chairman of the Greene County Republican Party for over 11 years. Ms. Reid was named
to the Greene County Women’s Hall of Fame in 1996 along with the
Who’s Who in American Women and given the AARP Woman’s Initiative
Award. She also served on the Board of Elections.
During her last
term as a Greene County Commissioner Ms. Reid served as the
President of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC).
She was a Board member of the County Commissioners’ Association of
Ohio (CCAO), the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Resource
Conservation and Development Council (RC&D). Ms. Reid was on the
Economic Development Sub Committee for the National Association of
Counties (NACo), and was a member of the Ohio State Bar Association
Law Library Task Force Committee.
Ms. Reid has two
sons, David and Nelson, and five grandsons, William, David, Matthew, Stephen, Jonathan
and granddaughter Abigail.
