Community Development Block Grant

The primary objective of the CDBG program is to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment while expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income via the Ohio Department of Development funding to non-entitlement counties and cities. In order to achieve this objective, all activities funded through the CDBG program must:

Benefit Low and moderate income persons

Aid in elimination of slum and blight

Meet other community needs having particular urgency (re: tornado disaster)

Create and retain permanent jobs

Improve the housing stock

Provide for the construction, reconstruction or improvement of public facilities

Assist with alleviation of public health threats

Further Fair Housing Compliance

Revitalization of Central Business Districts
