Jamestown Area Family Resource Center Bi-Monthly Immunization Clinic

The Greene County Combined Health District offers as a bi-monthly childhood immunization clinic the third Wednesday of even numbered months (February, April, June, August, October and December) from 2:30 – 3:30 in the center office. No appointment is necessary and no one will be refused due to inability to pay. This clinic is open to all Greene County residents.

    Jamestown Community Band (J.T. Band)

Jamestown’s own adult community band, continues to practice and entertain on a regular basis for local nursing homes, churches, organizations and special events. If you or someone you know would like to join the band or schedule the group for a performance, please call Gene Pummel at (937) 675-8961.

Donations of Garage Sale/Yard Sale Leftovers

This year the center started a project to help area families in need (at no cost to them) by taking in garage and yard sales leftovers. The response was overwhelming! Thank you to everyone who made donations. As the saying goes “be careful what ask for…you might receive it”, we have so many donated items that we are now in need of a place to store them. We as now asking, begging and hoping for donated storage space for these items.

The best-case scenario would be to have space large enough to relocate the family resource center office, which ran out of space a long time ago, and have space enough to store donated items (clothes, shoes, blankets, kitchen items, household items, toys (Toys for Tots) leftovers, youth program equipment and supplies, etc.) and enough space to office a place for area youth to work on volunteer projects (sorting, cleaning, organizing donated items) and to have a place to be creative (arts, crafts, music, etc.), play games, and do homework (assisted by homework help volunteers). The possibilities would be endless with enough space. Please contact the center office, if you would like to help solve the storage and/or resource center space issue.

    Local School Supply Project

The center is part of a local effort to assist Greeneview school children in need, through a local school supply project. If you would like to assist with school supplies and/or book bags for the beginning or school or any time during the school year, please contact the center office or drop items off school supplies at one of the local participating churches or drop items off at the center office (please call first to make sure staff will be in the office).

Summer Outdoor Activities and Recreation (S.O.A.R.)

The center successfully completed the seventh year in offering area children free activities, games, arts & crafts, snacks and two great party days, which included a cookout with lots of food and fun. We would like to thank:  the Jamestown McDonalds for donating all of our ice, cups and drink mix, Schwans for donating the ice cream for our parties, the Jamestown Presbyterian Church and Jamestown Partnerships for Success (P.F.S.) youth advisory board for their monetary donations and to the parents of the  participants who donated food for the program. Most of all, we would like to thank the adult and high school leaders, as well as a few junior high students, who volunteered their time to plan, run and supervise the program and prepare snacks.
