As an Average

Average quarterly water usage for an adult is 8,000 to 10,000 gallons.

Average quarterly water usage for a child (0-15 years) is 4,000 to 6,000 gallons.

A two (2) person (adult) household uses 16,000 gallons of water per quarter.

A two (2) adult and two (2) small children household uses 24,000 gallons of water per quarter.

A family of four will use on an average 24,000 to 36,000 gallons of water per quarter.

A pinhole leak in a bathroom faucet can add up to 170 gallons of water lost in 24 hours.  That could add up to 18,000 gallons in one quarter.

A fast drip can add up to 970 gallons of water lost in 24 hours.

On an average it will take:

        2 to 10 gallons per minute for a shower
        36 gallons to fill a tub
        2 gallons to shave
        16 gallons for full cycle dishwasher
        30 to 60 gallons per load of laundry
        600 gallons per hour for 1/2 inch garden hose
