SOLID
WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT
In 1988, as a result of House Bill
592, The Greene County Board of County Commissioners
formed, by resolution, the Greene County Solid Waste
Management District. The District is managed out
of the Environmental Services Division of the Greene
County Sanitary Engineering Department. The Greene
County Solid Waste Management District Director is
Dana Storts. Each Solid
Waste Management District in Ohio is required to prepare
a Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) that demonstrates
compliance with the goals established by the State of
Ohio's Solid Waste Management Plan (listed below).
In addition, the SWMP must be ratified by the majority
of jurisdictions with the District and the plan must be
reviewed and approved by the Ohio Environmental
Protection Agency. For more information on
Solid Waste Management Districts, click here www.epa.state.oh.us/dsiwm/pages/swmdc.html.
