Qualifications for
Correction Officers - Jail:
-
Must be a high school graduate or have a GED certificate, or equivalent.

Must be
20 years of age or older at time of employment.
-
Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State of Ohio driver’s license without a disqualifying record of suspension or revocation in any State. The Greene County driver’s eligibility policy states, no Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or 3 moving traffic violations within the past 3 years.

Must be a citizen of the United States.

Must be able to read and write the English language.

Must be of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits.

No felony convictions and disqualifying criminal histories are not allowed.
Scope of selection process:
Application Card, Formal Application, Written Examination, Drivers
License Verification, Interview, Background Investigation, Criminal
Background Search, Polygraph Examination, Medical Examination, and Psychological Assessment.
Residency:
Applicants must reside within Greene County, Ohio or
any contiguous counties of Greene County.

Special Deputy Program
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has a Special Deputy program, which is an auxiliary position to assist the Sheriff’s Office. A Special Deputy is utilized to serve for supplemental assistance to various regular activities of the Sheriff’s Office. THIS IS NOT A REGULAR DEPUTY SHERIFF POSITION. The qualifications for Special Deputy are the same as a full-time Deputy Sheriff. Special Deputies must have their Ohio Basic Police Training ( OPOTA ) completed prior to application. As a Special Deputy you are required to volunteer 12 hours a month and attend a 2 hour monthly meeting. There are some limited opportunities to work paid events.
